Biochemistry and Physiology
Biochemistry & Physiology
Plant Biochemistry is the interface between chemistry, molecular and cell biology, and plant physiology. We investigate the chemical and physical basis of the life processes, and plant processes at the level of molecules, cells, organs, whole plants or plant systems. Faculty members in this section specialize in research areas such as photosynthesis and photobiology, signal transduction and chemical signaling, hormonal regulation, primary or secondary metabolism, plant nutrition, water relations, cell wall biochemistry, abiotic or biotic stress, phytopathology (the study of plant diseases), molecular farming and biofuels.
